Most of the fabric I have created has been used in other textile works such as my sculptural work or in cushions. They were never meant for clothing. Consequently I often use techniques of screen printing multiple small screens, layering textile paint and spray painting to create surfaces that can be somewhat crusty (or sometimes not so crusty).
I have been known to lay down fabric paint with rollers or brushes or upturned containers filled with paint. Then I might put down masking tape in a grid like fashion, paint or print over this, then repeating the masking tape in another pattern etc. Scraping away paint is also a technique used.
